Cupulocorona osgoodensis Assoc., St. Clair Limestone, North-Central Arkansas (Silurian of the United States)

Where: Arkansas (35.8° N, 91.6° W: paleocoordinates 27.5° S, 58.4° W)

• coordinate based on political unit

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: St. Clair Limestone Formation, Wenlock (433.4 - 427.4 Ma)

• "Late [sic; this must be misprint for Lower] to middle Wenlockian, apparently mostly Kockelella ranuliformis Zone, but extending into the lower K. Amsdeni Zone."

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal ramp; shelly/skeletal grainstone and shelly/skeletal wackestone

• "brachiopods and echinoderms usually whole and spar-filled...holdfasts uncommon..overall little evidence of current or wave action, but occasional winnowed debris layers occur...Both echinoderms and brachiopods suggest shallow BA 4"

•SEP environmental call based on scanty given info. and ref (see 26022)

• "Very fossiliferous. Two lithologies are common, brachiopodal grainstone and wackestone, with echinodermal packstones and wackestones locally prominent. Bedding is sometimes obscure, with units commonly ranging beteen 2-10 cm thickness. Spar or lime mud cement are equally common, but siliciclastics generally comprise less than 10% of the unit."
